Dr. Derek Greenfield is a visionary and transformational educator with more than 30 years of professional experience as an inspiring “synergizer in action.” His career spans youth development, higher education, and executive leadership.

A former youth worker, tenured college professor, three-time chief diversity officer, and three-time university vice president, Derek brings unmatched energy and credibility to conversations about connection, culture, and collaboration across generations.

He has delivered powerful workshops and keynotes for colleges, conferences, and industry-leading organizations including Visa, CBS Sports, Tinder, Sysco, Cargill, and Altria. Known for his ability to turn audiences into communities, Derek blends research, real-world insight, and interactive experiences to help leaders build trust and shared success.

He earned his BA and MA in Sociology from Northwestern University, an EdD from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa, and a PhD in Cultural Studies from the University of Washington. He also completed a prestigious Kellogg Fellowship and was mentioned twice in Source magazine for teaching one of the first college-level courses focused exclusively on hip-hop culture.

Dr. Greenfield currently serves as Vice President for Student Affairs at Clinton College, where he spearheads dynamic efforts to build a best-in-class student experience.
